Itinerary

SUPPORT LEVEL -

MEETING DATE & TIME :

Near Moeraki

RIDE OUT TIME :

RETURN  TIME :

Saturday 28 th February
We meet up in the Moeraki area after 3pm.You will be shown your horse paddocks,and where to
leave your vehicle for transfer to the host town.Most importantly your horse must be freshly
shod,,and put in spare shoes or scoot boots.
Our evening meal is at 7pm where you will get to meet the crew.Once registered for Cavalcade 2026
you will receive directions to where we start nearer the time.
Sunday 1st March
With the Kakanui Mountains on our right we ride and drive over farmland with coastal views on our
left.We make our way up Horse Range Rd and down to the Glenpark area for our night’s stop.
Monday 2 nd March
Leaving ‘Kartigi’ we travel near limeworks on our way to the Dunback area and through an old
settlement called Waynes.Here we cross the Shag river and continue on, to the Waihemo area
where we cross the Dunback-Morrisons Rd to our next woolshed.
Tuesday 3 rd March
When we leave the Waihemo woolshed we head across sheep and beef country and up to the road
through the Macraes Goldmine.Here we will see the incredible vastness of modern day
goldmining.Once through Macraes we are going into the Nenthorn area and arrive at our next 2
nights’ stay.
Wednesday 4 th March
Today is a rest day with a short ride/drive and barbeque lunch.Also its Party night so put on those
dancing shoes(boots!)
Thursday 5 th March
Today we ride through incredible landscape with that amazing schist rock. This takes us further into
the Nenthorn and Moonlight area and to our next woolshed.
Friday 6th March
We travel on roads and tracks today making our way onto Hartfield Rd near the Taieri river for our
last night’s woolshed stay.
Saturday7th March
The final day! A short ride and drive to Middlemarch for the Parade and Market Day. This is a limited
back-up trail so keep your gear to a minimum as you will be loading it each day.

Fit, freshly shod, trek conditioning recommended, well-behaved in groups

Waterproof coat/jacket/leggings/hat, Jersey/balaclava/socks/longjohns/gloves, Hot weather gear

Horse (freshly shod), Waterproof gear, Gaiters, Sleeping bag/mat, First aid kit, Water bottle

Option to have vehicle ferried from starting point to Middlemarch (in one shift, you will not have access to your vehicleor float until you get back to Middlemarch) $120
